The Refugee Food Festival kicks off Tuesday July 6 in Bordeaux. For five days, refugee cooks will share the stoves with local chefs from the metropolis. This solidarity festival, organized nationwide since 2016, will experience its fifth Bordeaux edition.
Refugee Food 2021 will take curious taste buds to Syria on July 6 at Délices de Damas, in Iran on July 7 at Julien Cruège and on 8 at Prince Noir’s castle (Lormont), in the Central African Republic on July 9 at Gauta, and finally in Tibet. and in Armenia on the 10th at the Modern Garage of the Darwin Space, for the closing evening.
This year, the Marie Curry company is bringing the project to Bordeaux. Founded during the previous edition of the Refugee Food Festival, in October 2020, the Lormont-based company supports women refugees and immigrant women. The goal is to put their culinary know-how at the service of partner caterers and restaurateurs, and thus promote their professional integration.
Enough to “change the way people look at refugees”, an objective common to the festival and to the company, underlined by Sandrine Clément, co-founder of Marie Curry.
