Et encore un Afterwork super intéressant à la Cité du vin en cette mi Octobre, sur les vins de Bulgarie cette fois. Une zone viticole totalement inconnue pour moi….
La session était animée par Marc Dworkin, oenologue consultant et spécialiste en vins bulgares. C’est toujours un véritable plaisir pour moi de voyager en mode oenologique !
60% des vins bulgares sont bus en Bulgarie!! De nombreux home-made wines… Les vins sont mis sur le marché très rapidement.
Nous avons dégusté 4 vins différents, 1 vin blanc et 3 rouges, ce qui donne un bel aperçu des vins que l’on peut trouver en Bulgarie. J’apprécie particulièrement déguster des vins issus de cépages autochtones (sortir du cadre typique bordelais et s’ouvrir au vaste monde…)
Vin N°1: Dalakov Tamyanka
cépage: tamyanka en bulgare, plus mondialement connu par Muscat blanc Tamjanika | wein.plus Lexique
Muscat blanc: Ce cépage blanc est probablement originaire d’Italie ou de Grèce, ou plus largement “du bassin méditerranéen”. Il s’agit du cépage le plus noble, mais pas le plus fréquent, du grand groupe des Muscat (voir informations générales). La dénomination la plus courante dans le monde est Muscat Blanc, le nom complet d’après la forme des grains étant Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains Ronds (Petits Grains Ronds = petits grains ronds).
Vin un peu jeune mais très belle acidité, une belle longueur en bouche…. Terroir argileux, caillouteux. J’ai vraiment bien apprécié !
Wine cellar Better Half is a small, family, boutique cellar situated in the villge of Zmeevo near Stara Zagora. The limited edition wines which do not exceed 2500-3000 bottles of a type fit into the garage wine concept. The vineyards are located in the foothills of the dormant volcano Betera and new plantings with interesting viarieties for the region are being created.
The cellar impresses with its technological techniques and the use of KVEVRI clay vessels from Georgia some of which have already been buried and the rest are yet to be buried. Egg-shaped fermentation and storage vessels from Italy are clear evidence of their modern interpretation on winemaking.
And all this in combination with modern stainless steel equipment that allows them to experiment with the same grapes. Part of the wines age in French oak barrels.
The philosophy of Better Half is to revive the ancient approach to winemaking and to combine it with brand new quality control and technologies.
An incredible guest house is yet to open adjacent to the winery which will be a combination of spaciousness, coziness, art and luxury. A combination that only the owners of Better Half can create.
As the owners Nikolay Dalakov (oenologist) and Yana Yugova (marketing, advertisement and trades) say “tourists stay in this magical place for a long time and do not want to leave”.
The visit to the cellar can be turned into a real culinary experience, but only if you make your booking in advance.

Vin N°2: Villa Melnik
Ce cépage rouge est une nouvelle sélection entre Shiroka Melnishka x Valdiguié. La liste de sélection indiquait un mélange de graines des variétés Durif, Jurançon et Valdiguié, mais des analyses ADN effectuées en 2005 ont établi la paternité définitive de Valdiguié. Les synonymes sont Early Melnik, Melnik 55, Melnishka Ranna et Ranna Melnishka. Le croisement a été réalisé en 1963 en Bulgarie par Yane Atanasov. Elle est souvent confondue avec la variété mère. Les mêmes parents ont d’ailleurs donné naissance à la nouvelle variété Melnik 82. Ce cépage à maturité moyenne est sensible aux deux types d’oïdium, mais il résiste au botrytis. Il produit des vins rouges épicés à l’arôme de griotte et au potentiel de vieillissement. La variété est cultivée dans le sud-ouest.
Les vin est coloré, juteux, arôme de cerises, avec des saveurs épicées, type poivre. Le boisé ressort. Il est un peu jeune et sera très bien dans 2/3 ans. 14,5°C
Vin N°3: Katarzyna Question Mark
A l’aveugle, dignes d’un très bon bordeaux… En effet, assemblage typique bordelais (Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot). Proche d’un vin du Médoc…??
Vin N°4: Enira
Merlot 66%, Syrah 20%, Petit Verdot 14%
