On Tuesday this week, many professionals from the wine industry coming from different regions in France (and a few from abroad) met up in Bordeaux (hangar 14, on the docks) to discuss different topics and promote their business. I went there to check what this event really has to offer….

I first attended a few conferences, amongst them “Discovery & Explanations on the tipicity of English wines”, mainly from Sussex in South East England. This was followed by an enjoyable sparkling wines’ tasting (The Bolney Wine Estate).

Who are the actors of wine tourism ?
First of all many different Châteaux which presented their wide offer about wine tourism, including visits of their property/their cellar, or tastings with or without food pairings. Being from Bordeaux I know pretty much all of them around here, so I got information about different properties in other places like Loire Valley, Languedoc Roussillon or Alsace for instance. Wine tourism also offers nice restaurants or wine bars, and accomodation on spot. Just pick up information you need to plan ahead a lovely programm for a day out, or even a full week holiday ! The idea of Châteaux gathering in one single place is that travel agencies or companies can collect the information needed, compare and choose which Château they will include in their list for their final customers.
Exhibition “Les Herbettes” : a great and unique artist behind this artwork
