Press release published on 25th April 2022
Jacques Lurton is appointed President of the Syndicat Pessac-Léognan and takes over from Philibert Perrin.
A graduate in oenology from the University of Bordeaux in 1983 and after two years of experience in Australia, Jacques Lurton began his career in 1985 as a production manager of Vignobles André Lurton. He then traveled to the four corners of the world and vinified for almost thirty years in more than 20 countries. In 2000, he created and developed The Islander, his personal vineyard, in Kangaroo Island, Australia.
These multiple experiences allow Jacques Lurton today to have a global and sharp vision of the world of wine. Since May 2019, following the death of his father, back in his native country, Jacques Lurton has been appointed president of the Vignobles André Lurton family group (Château Couhins-Lurton – Cru Classé de Graves, Château La Louvière – Château de Cruzeau, Château de Rochemorin, i.e. 300 hectares in Pessac-Léognan).
At the service of Pessac-Léognan, Jacques is very enthusiastic about the idea of this new role and will put his infallible energy into it, like his father, “35 years after the creation of the Pessac-Léognan Appellation obtained by my father, a relentless leader , André Lurton who was its President for 18 years, I take this place in the hope of giving new life to this Appellation, among the most prestigious in Bordeaux” explains Jacques.
Philibert Perrin (Château Carbonnieux) who leaves his place to Jacques Lurton.
