My Afterwork 2019 at Château Cordeillan-Bages in Médoc, Bordeaux area

5 properties in Médoc: Cordeillan Bages, Paloumey, Marquis de Terme, Lamothe-Bergeron and Malescasse decided to organise these Afterwork events for you all summer. At Château Cordeillan Bages, the Afterwok took place on Thursday 02/08. The current mansion is a chartreuse whose main building dates back to the middle of the 19th century. Its two older turrets are the remains of the first house built in the 17th century. Opened in 1989, the house has been a member of Relais & Châteaux since 1992.

Before joining the event by the pool, I had a look at the vineyards. There is a little terrasse also which you can use.

Art Exhibition

As it is often the case when there is an event, that night they welcomed an exhibition. This artist called Sandro Roberto (SR) was very interesting to discover (at least for me)

Born in 1975, Romuald Schreckler, aka SR, began in 1988 to graffiti and started to impose his style in his home region (Great East of France). Hyperactive autodidact, SR is influenced very early by the Bauhaus movement, Fernand Léger and the Russian avant-garde. His work includes several styles and tools of expression: collages, eco-graff, diversions, vegetable graffiti, acrylic on canvas, wood too.

The Antigraphik series presented here is a curiosity between Greek mythology and minimal graphic forms.

At Marquis de Terme you might meet the Italian Davide (above) who will give you a wonderful tour of the property. This Château is one Grand Cru Classé 1855.

I must admit that this evening was really enjoyable. Lovely wines and lovely people! At the end of the evening (towards 11pm yes !), there was a prize draw. I was not picked up but in any case I still was a lucky guest that night, I enjoyed a beautiful setting.
