Due to the Coronavirus, this great wine fair is cancelled this wek-end (March 2020)…Read my article about last year’s Salon des Vignerons Indépendants.. The fair is postponed in June (19-21)
Authentic wines, Authentic people
If you happen to be in Bordeaux in March, do not hesitate to visit this independent wine-growers’ fair. The event takes place every year and is really a must for wine lovers. During 3 days you can meet the wine-growers themselves which is a great opportunity to share direct and human experiences. They know the whole secrets of their wines’ making and talk about it with passion. For 6€ the entrance you can indulge yourself with endless wine tastings from all over in France. You will find obviously a great choice of wine-growers from Bordeaux area (Pessac-Léognan, Graves, Saint-Emilion, Blaye, Médoc, Sauternes) but also a wide selection from other regions such as Bourgogne, Loire, Alsace, Sud-Est, Corse, etc.. Whatever you like you will find your treasure and will surely go back home with a few bottles…(I did !). Even spirit lovers are not left out as there were exhibitors from Charente with great Cognac (or Pineau) to taste, others to make you discover Armagnac or Floc de Gascogne for instance.
Nice range of wines from South East France
“Drinking good wine with good food in good company is one of life’s most civilized pleasures. “
Michael Broadbent
The fair is opened between 10am and 7pm (till 8pm on first day) so you could spend all day there if you wished ! It is actually a good idea, you can come along with friends and have a nibble there, spoilt for choice : oysters, saucissons, top quality ham, duck sandwiches, etc. Not to mention that you can try as a dessert our speciality called “Canelés”, a pastry which would have probably never existed without wine-makers…
